Ringing in the New Year on Mackinac

Jan 4th

It was a fun and busy week on Mackinac Island! The weather didn’t cooperate just the way we wanted it to, but everyone who visited our little island seemed to still enjoy the unique stay. With barely any snow, New Year’s Eve day was a VERY windy and cold day. The Mighty Huron boat got stuck in ice coming over for the first trip of the day. The last boat over to the island ended earlier than normal, leaving some tourists still in St. Ignace. The weather continued to stay cold and blustery through New Year’s Day. For those who made it over, they had more than six shops to browse from, lots of hiking, they enjoyed cozy meals at the Village Inn Restaurant and the Mustang Lounge. ┬áThe ‘Turtle Drop’ was at midnight on NYE in the middle of Main Street where a large crowd of people braved the cold and wind to ring in 2015!

My little store and Doud’s Market were both open this week. Doud’s had extended hours and Little Luxuries was open Sunday-Wednesday. Each day we had a good amount of visitors in and out of the store. It was so very nice to see familiar and new faces to Mackinac in the winter time! From now until May 1st, you can shop online 24/7 from our online shop (www.littleluxuriesofmackinac.com). Thank you for a fabulous 2014….we are excited for 2015 and all that it has to offer!
